Based out of her hometown of Minneapolis, MN, Sara Renner has been performing her eclectic style of Gospel, Jazz & Pop music at churches, jazz clubs, festivals and special events for over twenty years. Often called a “soul singer”; Sara is known for her vocal control and her powerful and passionate delivery of a song. This talent led her to be selected as the NHL’s Minnesota Wild National Anthem singer from 2007-2009. You’ll currently hear her sing the U.S. and also Canadian anthems for the Minnesota Twins at least once a year. She loves the free baseball tickets!
Sara is a prolific recording artist and songwriter. In 2001, she released her first album entitled “Joy” and has since produced three more albums of original songs plus two Christmas albums. Sara considers her original work to be the best reflection of her artistry and faith. She has touched many hearts over the years with songs like “Forgive” from All For Love (2009) and “I Just Love Jesus” from Altogether Beautiful (2020).
Also a seasoned worship leader, Sara has been the Contemporary Worship Director at St. Andrew’s Lutheran Church since 2010. “The Gathering” worship service, which she produces and leads is broadcast weekly on Fox 9+. Sara also regularly performs in “River” - the songs of Carole King, Joni Mitchell and Carly Simon, as well as singing background vocals for the incomparable Mick Sterling for various tribute shows year round. Sara is co-owner of the Twin Cities best dance band, “The Covers”; which brings the dance party to about forty wedding receptions, corporate events and outdoor festivals each year. Recently, Sara and her long-time musical collaborators, Billy Steele and Tonia Hughes Kendrick, are delighted to produce and star in two tribute shows featuring the music of Gospel legends Andrae’ Crouch and The Winans family!
Sara lives in Minneapolis with her two adorable cats, Ru & Wallace. When not singing, she loves to travel (especially to Italy) and to hang out and laugh with friends and family on her patio. She hopes to see you at a live music show soon!
